Hi everyone!
A little bit about me. I grew up in Abington, MA with three brothers and one sister. I went to Holy Cross for my undergraduate degree in Economics and then obtained my Master of Education from Bridgewater State University. I spent 11 years teaching elementary school; one year on the Cape and the rest in Abington and then decided I would try something different and worked in the Life Insurance Industry for 12 years. For about 5 years I began thinking about getting back to the classroom, but 6 summers ago I finally decided to take the plunge and I am oh so glad I did! I spent the 2015/2016 school year at the Foster School in Hingham. I began the year working with Title 1 and Special Education as a paraprofessional and then in January took over a 5th grade classroom for a teacher on maternity leave. That position lasted until April vacation, and when I came back from April vacation, I then took over to cover a third grade maternity leave to close out the year. It was great to be back in the classroom, but I was even more thrilled to be hired to work at Cole!! My first four years at Cole have been full of lots of great learning and adventures, no adventure more challenging than being hit with a Pandemic and Distance Learning last year! BUT, together as a classroom community we rose to the challenge and finished the year strong. Each year we have worked hard to build our community classroom and learned skills to prepare us for Middle School, while managing to have some fun! I am looking forward to another exciting year of laughter and learning, and together, through open communication and by working together we will rise to this COVID Challenge!!!
My family is very important to me, I spend a good deal of my free time with my siblings and especially with my nieces and nephews (4 nieces and 4 nephews ranging in age from 3 years to 21 years!) I am very active when not at work - I enjoy running, golfing, biking, paddleboarding, skiing, basically anything that keeps me outdoors. I live in South Yarmouth now and absolutely love coming home to the beach each night. The commute does not bother me, as I love my job, so am excited and organize my day each morning as I make my way north. I live in my family's summer home which is a favorite gathering spot for all of my family during the summer, much quieter when we go back to school! While on the Cape, I golf as much as I am able and relax at the beach having fun with my nieces and nephews. The past few years I have really started to play more golf and just love it. I especially love it as I have wonderful memories golfing with my Dad and continue golfing with my mom and siblings.. Lots of laughs to be had!
I am looking forward to many great adventures in learning with our class this year. We will be active learners as we move through the curriculum and together we will work hard to prepare for middle school!
